BELMONTE CALABRO

Belmonte Calabro medieval village (1270), is one of the thirteen most beautiful towns in Calabria. Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea, at 280m above sea level, is surrounded by a ring of green hills and populated. The territory stretches from the shoreline on the Tyrrhenian Sea and reaches the slopes of Mount Cocuzzo (1542m), the highest peak in the Apennines Paul. The ancient village, in its urban plan, has remained perfectly intact as it was before. The valley flows the Guys, a wellspring that stream from the slopes of Mount Cocuzzo, flows into the sea to the rocks right in front of Isca and will soon be protected park, along with the Oasis Marina. Along the river-bed is possible to take healthy walks and instructive, to see rare plants, life forms and many birds of prey that inhabit the pristine valley.
The sea is a 6 minute drive away, the beach is wide, free, suitable for families with children. In less than 10 minutes by car, we arrive at Carratelli pine forest at 1050m of altitude, where a fully equipped picnic and where you can make long and healthy walks.

The Tomato of Belmonte

Il Pomodoro di Belmonte Calabro One of the characteristics of Belmonte Calabro, is the giant tomato. The fruits, on average, reach a lost ranging from 700gr, the 1500g. The "Giant", the only Italian tomatoes to bear a De.CO, differs from other species, for its sweetness and the near absence of water inside. Subject to many imitations production, and grows into its own only if grown in the open and hilly terrain in the details of Belmonte Calabro. A label affixed to each fruit, with the brand APB, the consortium of organ protection, differentiates it from imitations.
